On living a Godly life

I had always thought to live a Godly life came with some special type of feeling. Today I'd feel very Godly and tomorrow I'll not. Today I'll be on fire and tomorrow I'd be cold and whenever i get cold, I'll feel like I'm no more Godly like I had to start all over until I read in my Bible that
God has given us everything that pertains to life and Godliness. I don't have it today and lose it tomorrow. It's all mine.

2 Peter 1:3
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.
And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires.

Titus 1:1
Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness  in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the

These two verses have something in common.

They both point to the fact that understanding the truth of God's love and his promises x calling helps you to live a Godly life.

Living a Godly life is not a feeling. You don't feel it today and tomorrow its gone, as a christian, living Godly is part of your life. It's you literally walking with God even when you don't feel like it.

Godliness is filling your mind and life with God's truth and promises (the gospel) and even when you're at an all time low, all you have to do is remind yourself of these truths and you get fired up again. Check my page @powaffirmations here for daily reminders of God's promises.

I'll back up a bit here and show us a few of God's promises for believers. It was this year I truly began to understand that God doesn't just love me with a long distance type love, he actually likes me.

To be Godly, is to be made righteous. And as believers, we have all been made right with God (righteous) once and for all , regardless of our past. Being right with God means that we died when Jesus died and rose when he rose and now we are sitted with him at the right hand of God and we have the Holy Spirit within us that will help us live in a way that's consistent with who we really are.

So first thing to note is that if you believe in the death and ressurection of Jesus as your lord and saviour, you are Godly. There's no arguing that

Now all you have to do is to take  every aspect of your life and giving it all to God. Romans 12. It is you no longer living for yourself or for people. It is living for the one who loved you so much

Because Titus 2:10-14, helps us understand that the Grace of God helps us to say no to ungodliness all we have to do is respond.

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.

His Grace is enough, we just need to accept it. As a Godly person, before you take any step, you have to stop and think if it's consistent with who you are in Christ. Your life goes beyond throwing caution into the wind to growing in love and desire for God.

One thing that helps me put things in perspective and love God more is comparing myself to his standards (not that of other seemingly weak humans) and the realization that he's so perfect and he loves me even in my imperfection is just so overwhelming (in a good way of course!)

I'll end this post by saying this according to 2 Pet 1:5; you have already been made righteous, you are already Godly so you have to live like a Godly person so because of this, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
